A day on Anguilla Island

Holdyn and I made a trip to the British island, Anguilla. It is only about 7 or so miles north of St. Maarten. We can see the island of Anguilla from our balcony. Anyway, I packed up everything for the day and we left about 9:30 with a good friend, Candace. We had our passports checked and we got on a ferry boat in Marigot. It only took about 25 minutes on the boat to get there. Here is Holdyn on our Ferry ride over. We rented a car (which we drove on the left side of the road....YIKES!!) and went to pick up our friend Ashley and her boys at the airport. They flew over in a small plane. Then our next stop was this little water park. It is actually behind a hotel and right on the beach. It was fun to swim in chlorine again! There was a waterslide and this big ship that kids could play on. It was small but very fun for kids...and moms. Well, our next stop was lunch!! We went to a little place on a different beach and enjoyed some YUMMY cheeseburgers and fries...they definitely hit the spot! Here is another picture at the restraunt we were at. I wanted you to see the beautiful blue ocean in the background. This is also Carter, one of Ashley's 3 boys that came with us. Here is a picture of us swimming at another pool. This was next to the restraunt and the beach is straight behind the palm trees. You can see the beach umbrella's. Here is a photo of Ashley and her two other boys Reese and Gavin, and Candace is on the right. Anyway, we went to the beach for a few minutes then rinsed off in the showers and hopped in the pool. Here is Holdyn and me.....as you can see she is really enjoying the day! It is a good thing we were almost ready to catch the ferry back home. This time we got to ride on the top of the ferryboat. It was fun being able to see out and around as well as have the fresh air blowing in our faces the whole ride back to St. Maarten. This last picture is St. Maarten. It looks huge from Anguilla. Oh, for those who may be wondering where Ben and the other Hubby's were......they were at school, of course, studying their little brains out for their exams Monday! We wish them the best of luck on these last exams!!

Round Round Get around...she gets around!!!

Little Holdyn has discovered the art of standing/pulling herself up and sidestepping along things. She is getting around soo fast!

It is getting hard to keep a close eye on her...one minute

She is here..the next she is there.

I try to keep her on our rug...since it is the softest place to fall, and she has mastered the art of falling too!

There is nothing worse than hearing the "Thud" then WAHH!

It is a good thing she is a toughie!

She'll be walking on her own before we know it!

Happy Sunday!

Hi everyone! We don't have too many pictures of Ben, Holdyn and I all together. Since Grandma and Grandpa Baker were here to take some I thought I'd better put one up. We are standing on Cay Hill looking down over Simpson Bay.

Bye Grumma and Grumpa...We'll Miss You!!

It was a sad good-bye this morning as we took Grumma and Grumpa to the airport! We Sure enjoyed their visit! Too bad it rained most of the week...at least we got one day at the beach in.
They left this morning and it has irronically been sunny and warm all day! Here they are at the end of the trip.....it's official, they are true islanders!!

Marigot

Here we are in the Marigot shopping place. Marigot is the capital city of the French side. There is sort of a flea marketplace that we went to today to get the souviners. It has been raining on and off so we've had to postpone some of the snorkeling adventures. This is a picture on the Dutch/French border. As you can see...not so sunny skies.

We also went up to Ft. Louis, which is where the French defended their side of island.
There were some great views of the island from the top of the hill.

Here is Grandma and Holdyn and me at Ft. Louis looking down on Marigot.

Here is a typical street, with the moped that tried to run us off the one lane road. It's a good thing I am such a supurb island driver.....hee hee.
We also stopped off at Baie Rouge to see where we want to snorkel tomorrow if the weather permits.

Tag, I am it.

Well, Jill informed me that I was tagged by B rad, so here it goes. Five random things about me are:

1. I was born with 3 thumbs, one on my left hand, and 2 on my right hand. Ironically I found out today that it was caused by an extra apoptosis area in the AER during the embryonic development of my right hand. Now you also know the same mutation caused mental retardation.

2. I like to pee outside instead of in bathrooms whenever possible.

3. I caught a baby antelope with my brother once.

4. I absolutely hate cats.

5. Snorkeling is my new hobby, but I don't get much time to go even though I have 32 beaches with in a half hour drive of my home.

More family fun

We've got a few more pictures to show.

Today we went to Sunset Beach which is a beach right on the end of the airport runway. It is pretty fun watching the planes come into land and watch people get blown down as they take off.

We also went for a quick walk down behind our apt. We live in the apt. on the upper right of the picture. Our bedroom widow is half open, if that helps.

Here is Grumpa showing his purdy pink legs. He's got quite the burn on the backs of his legs from the snorkeling adventure yesterday!

Our first visitors

Grumma and Grumpa made it...a day before their luggage....or should I say our luggage, since they brought 150lbs of crap and a jogger stroller for us. There were a few delays, but they arrived safe and sound. Here is a picture of all of the luggage and passengers...Nice duct tape, rope, and Grumma's specialty the nylon tie job on the stroller...YES we fit it all in the Getz!! Go Hyundai! This next picture is of our $20 home made/hand cranked coconut icecream. YUM YUM. Those two bites each were definitely worth $20!!!?

Here is the group of us just outside the University....love the stroller....thanks Rebecca! Here we are visiting the AUC Campus.

We saw the cruise ships on our Sunday afternoon drive. Here we are on the small island of Pinel. Grumpa and I did about 3 hours of great snorkeling while Grumma and Holdyn played on the shore and in the shallow waters. For those of you who are wondering....YES mom got her racoon eyes today. Dad and I got the backs of our legs pretty toasted because of the "snorkeling" position. Anyway, we are having a blast!!! Here we are....How romantic!

Here we are again!

Well, here we are at Mullet Beach. Ben came out with us...he needed a break from the pressures of studying. We sure love it when he can go to the beach with us!

Here is Holdyn in her toybox. She loved it....for the first few minutes anyway!! She's got a really funny grin on her face in this picture.

Then we also have her getting into her wierd places where we have to force her to become a contortionist to get her out!
As for funny grins, I've definitely got one in this shot. However Holdyn looks soo dang cute I had to put it up. Anyway, here we are. Still the same old Cluff Family.
