It doesn't get better than this

We've done some babysitting lately and Holdyn LOVES having friends over. So here is a picture I snapped of her and little Nanna. They are living the live in the pool with Bella and their chairs and all!

A few interesting days

I didn't get many pictures this day because I was to busy running around with towels and finding neighbors and friends who would let us use their bathrooms. Last week our plumbing backed up and WOW! We couldn't flush the toilet or use the water all day! It was one of those times you wished you had family close by where you could go and stay for the day....or at least let your kids go and stay while you took care of the mess! Anyway, the plumbers had us back up and running by 7pm. They said it is a temporary fix and to be careful when draining/flushing water and things. So I waited until about 930 to start a load of wash. Well, I'd just finished scrubbing the tub and shower when I walk into another water mess! The washer was overflowing and water was clear out into the front room! Luckily it only got on a bit of the wood floors. We again, brought out all of the towels that had any soaking up room left in them and began mopping up again! The plumber came again the next day and said it wasn't the plumbing but the washer was bad.....who knew the plumbing would flood us out and the washer (Two different problems) on the same day :/ So we ended up having to get a washer.....thank you Craigslist!

On another day last week we heard a kitty meowing while we were watching TV. We thought it was outside. Well the next morning I could still hear it, only now it sounded like it was on the roof. Ben was sure it was a bird chirping but I KNEW it was a kitten. So he went out and looked at the roof...no kitty. Well, after a few hours of the meowing on and off he finally heard it and believed me, that it was a kitten. We finally discovered it was coming from the vents above....the darn thing was in the attic crawl space! We sent Cody Cox up there (he was over for dinner) to inspect. Sure enough he saw a small kitten. It couldn't have been more than a few weeks old because it's eyes were barely open. No sign of any other cats, just the one. Our hypothesis is that the mother took it up there....since it couldn't have gotten up on the roof and in there by itself.
The little thing was a bit wild and wouldn't let Cody get near it. We weren't sure what to do. Ben sat on top of our step stool for a good hour or so using his soothing voice. "Here kitty kitty." We had some canned chicken and milk trying to lure it towards him so he could grab it. After awhile he finally yelled that he had it....sure enough the thing had come close enough for him to grab it. Our girls were sure they'd just got a new kitten. We asked the neighbors and everyone around if they knew of a mother cat?? No takers. So we started trying to give it to someone. Our neighbor two doors down said his brother's cat had just been hit by a car a few days before and that he'd take it for him. We were super happy we didn't have to keep it. The girls said their good bye's and the story of the mystery kitten and meowing was over!

Here is a little video clip of the meowing that we could hear through the vents.

It was a Happy Birthday

I had a fantastic Birthday at the beginning of the month. Here are a few pictures. Ben did an awesome job on the cake :) Rachel and Cody came over for cake and ice cream. It was a great weekend.

Even got the nose buttered.....a Baker family tradition that has been going on for generations....if anyone knows the history on how it started I'd love to know!

Brad and kids come to Bakersfield

Last weekend Brad and the kiddo's came for a visit and we LOVED having them here! I didn't take as many pictures as I wanted to. But here are some. We went to Hart Park and played Disc/Frisbee Golf....one of our new favorite hobbies! Then we went and saw the peacocks and fed them cheez-its :)

There is another park closer to our house that we visited a couple of times.

We also pulled out the old and classic game "funny Bones" Avrie and Holdyn were the best team hands down!

We Loved having them and hope they will come again!

Kyle and Tyler's Choir Concert

While we were back in St. George we were able to attend the boys' choir concert at Arrowhead Elementary. They did a really good job. Tyler got a certificate for being a 5th grader in the choir....meaning he'll be going to another school next year.
Annie and Avrie never miss a moment when they can be in front of the camera.

We took up a whole row of chairs, you can see Brad is really excited... so is Annie.

Kimber was introduced to Marshmellow matey's while we were staying with Brad... shc now cannot get enough of them!

Holdyn visits Crazy Grandma's Preschool

First of all let me introduce Emma. This is Holdyn's favorite person in the whole world!

Ben's mom...also known as Crazy Grandma.... does a small preschool for some of her grandkids. While we were there visiting Holdyn got to join in the fun.... let me just say she had a GREAT time!

Uncle Josh has this baby cow that they have to feed from a bottle. HE brought it to Crazy Grandma's preschool for the kids to feed. Kimber also jumped in on the fun.

Thanks Crazy Grandma for letting Holdyn jump in on your class!

Horseback riding

We got to spend a few days in Fredonia, with Ben's family.
We visited our horse Cokey and brushed her up good.
Hopefully, she'll be big enough to start training at the end of the year :)

Josh and Tiffany were nice enough to saddle up a couple of their horses and let us ride.
They took us out of town a ways to where there are some indian ruins.

Here are some pieces of pottery and some petrified corn cobs.

These are dish-like holes they used to grind the corn into cornmeal.

We had a super fun time and I only fell off once. Yep, I say fell off because I'm an idiot and lost my balance when we were going up a soft sandy small hill :) At least I landed in a mix of cedar tree and sand.
