Grandma's Obituary

Wilma Spencer Oakeson "Together Again" Wilma Spencer Oakeson, 93, of South Jordan, went home to our Heavenly Father on September 21, 2009, in West Jordan at the home of her son.She was born in Bluffdale, UT to Reuben Benjamin and Edna Brown Spencer on May 1, 1916. She learned the value of hard work at a young age growing up on a farm and being the second oldest in a family of 10 children. She married Harold Edward Oakeson Feb. 4, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. They moved to Crescent on a 94 acre farm. Wilma had the honor and privilege of being a stay-at-home mom for their children: John, Lynette, Blaine and Sharon. She served all her life in various church callings. Wilma served with her husband, Harold, as a temple ordinance worker in the Salt Lake and the Jordan River Temples. She loved her temple calling and served faithfully until her release in Sept. 2008. Wilma had many talents and enjoyed oil painting, writing poetry, quilting, sewing, knitting, and crocheting and visiting with family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, daughter Sharon, sister Eunice, brothers; Vernon, Elmer, Merlin, and John. She is survived by sons; John (Debra) of West Jordan, Blaine (Susan) of Plain City, and daughter Lynette (Phil) Baker of Washington City; 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the River Ridge 8th Ward 10194 S. 1000 West. Viewing will be Friday, Sept. 25th from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy. (10600 S) and Saturday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Crescent Cemetery.
